Google translate

What is it?
  • Google's free online language translation service instantly translates text and web pages.

How can you use it?
  • It's pretty cool! Use it to add a cultural flare while teaching. For languages where the letters are formed differently, like Japanese or Hebrew, the translation will show you the Japanese or Hebrew writing as well as the English version.

Why would you use it?
  • Pro: Great for vocabulary when students are doing homework
  • Pro: Some of the languages have an audio button to help with pronunciation
  • Con: Not all of the languages have an audio button to help with pronunciation

  • When you have an ELL student who needs the worksheets translated in their entirty, copy the document into Translate and it translate the worksheet to that the student can read it. After I translate it, you can copy the translation into Word and format. I understand that the translations are not the completely correct but if you have teacher-made worksheets and don't have that ability to translate them yourself, it works.
